Following the event, Dr. Jones released the following remarks:
On behalf of the Madison County African American History Association, we want to congratulate all of the students across Madison County as another school year comes to an end!
To the high school graduates, congratulations on reaching such a huge milestone! Your hard work, memories, late nights, challenges, and accomplishments have brought you to this moment, and we cannot wait to see where life takes you next. To our middle school students moving up to high school, and to every student advancing to the next grade level, congratulations to you, too! Every year matters, and every step forward is something to be proud of.
We also want to recognize our 2026 scholarship recipients, Alivia Lewis and Stephan Turner. We are incredibly proud of your accomplishments and excited to see what your future holds.
Now it’s time to celebrate, enjoy summer break, make memories, and get ready for the next chapter.
